Morning meditations

I awaken in Estes Park, the essence of the Rocky mountains.  I dress and head outside, my baby girl in tow to take in the crisp fall air.  We take a seat and she sits quietly in my lap, observing the new world around her as I sip my coffee, black.  Everyone is gone, it's just us and the nearby deer munching on the grass, contemplating us as we watch them.  Their antlers are grand against the backdrop of fall, a sign of their status and the rut at hand.  The words of John Denver resonate in my mind; "welcome to my morning, welcome to my day." We watch the golden aspen leaves shimmering and performing their fluttering dance in the morning breeze.  I am happy.
