Top Ten Reasons You Know You Are a Mountain Mama

1. You bought a baby carrying backpack while still pregnant and before a stroller even though you knew you couldn't use it until he was 6 months old.

2. Your baby logged nights in a tent long before the first night in a hotel.

3. While hiking you've noticed you spend as much time pointing out bugs, rodents and birds that you would have previously walked by without a second thought as you do actually hiking.

4. Nursing by campfire is a great way to bond with your baby.

5. You realize half way through a hike that while you have diapers, wipes, snacks, and a change of clothes for baby, you didn't even bring a granola bar for you.

6. Your baby has a themed first birthday party consisting of a "play" tent and multiple books about camping.

7. Your child knew how to drink from a camelback before a cup.

8. The day after a previously easy hike feels like you've been hit by a truck because of lugging around a 25# toddler on your back and assorted baby supplies.

9. When trying to ward of mountain lions and bears you find yourself singing "the wheels on the bus" over and over again.

10. When you come across a bear while hiking alone with your child you don't wait for the perfect photo op, you move quickly in the opposite direction, because you are no longer a mountain woman, you are now a mountain mama, and protecting your child is your number one goal.
